About HummingRead
Real literature, matched to the reader, for the whole family
HummingRead began with a practical problem in a school where readers at different levels learn the same lesson together: ordinary levelled readers give each child a different book, and the conversation splits apart. We needed the opposite — the same worthwhile story at several levels.
So we rebuilt real literature — the public-domain stories worth reading twice — across six reading bands, with the pictures, questions, worksheets and checks that make a story a reading lesson. Then we made it a library any family can use.
Three things every page here says: neutral by design, under a published Content Philosophy that is apolitical and areligious; matched, not guessed, by a reading profile you control; real literature, six levels of the same story.
Origin
The Champion Leadership Academy
From the six-band learning system of The Champion Leadership Academy. The Academy is a private school in Grande Prairie, Alberta, whose Unified Academic Space teaches six development bands — Purple to Silver — across eleven subjects, with readers advancing by demonstrated understanding rather than age. HummingRead is the reading library developed from that method and used inside it.
HummingRead is a separate consumer product. A HummingRead account does not enrol a learner in the Academy, grant school credit or represent government approval. The Academy’s current status and enrolment information are published on its own site.
ScholarHawk, the Academy’s guided-learning platform, is in development and is not sold here.
