The Tailor of Gloucester was written by Beatrix Potter in 1903, one of her best-loved tales after Peter Rabbit. Potter heard the story in Gloucestershire and believed it to be true—at least the part about a tailor, a waistcoat, and the mysterious words "No more twist!" This story combines Potter's gift for detail with her love of small creatures and the magic that might happen on Christmas Eve.
