A Voyage to Lilliput
From The Blue Fairy Book, edited by Andrew Lang
This reader is adapted from Gulliver's Travels by Jonathan Swift, first published in 1726, as retold in Andrew Lang's The Blue Fairy Book (1889). Swift's story is a famous adventure about a sailor who visits strange lands. In Lilliput, everything is tiny—the people, the horses, even the Emperor's sword. This text reflects its era; a few period terms have been modernised. The story teaches us about kindness, keeping promises, and treating others fairly, even when we are much bigger or stronger than they are.
