Elfin-Mount
From Hans Andersen's Fairy Tales, by Hans Christian Andersen
Hans Christian Andersen (1805–1876) was a Danish author famous for his fairy tales. This story was first published in the nineteenth century. It is a glimpse into the world of elves and trolds—magical beings from Northern European folklore. Andersen loved to tell stories where the everyday world and the magical world touched, and where humour and strangeness walked side by side. This text reflects its era; a few period terms have been modernised. The story is worth a child's time because it opens a door to the folklore of another land and shows that even magical folk have families, feasts, and choices to make.
